Mid-Infrared observations of GRS 1915+105 during plateau and flaring states

چکیده
We present mid-infrared (4–18μm) observations of the microquasar GRS 1915+105 obtained with ISOCAM, the camera on board the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO), in 1996 April and 1997 October. The first observation probably occurred during a flaring event with oscillating synchrotron emission. The 1997 observation occurred a few days before a major relativistic ejection, during a plateau state of inverted-spectrum radio emission and hard quasi-stable X-ray emission. The K-M giant donor star in GRS1915+105 cannot account for the mid-IR emission and we discuss the possible additional components depending on two absorption laws. Thermal emission from dust seems unlikely. The flat mid-IR spectrum obtained during the plateau state is likely to be synchrotron emission. It would be the first evidence of the infrared extension of the radio synchrotron emission from the compact jets, although optically thin free-free emission from an X-ray driven-wind from the accretion disc cannot be excluded.

Spectroscopy of Infrared Flares from the Microquasar GRS
We present near-infrared medium-resolution (R ∼ 875) spectra of the microquasar GRS 1915+105 on 1997 August 13-15 UTC from the Hale 200-inch telescope. The spectra show broad emission lines of He I (2.058 μm) and H I (2.166 μm Brγ), consistent with previous work. On August 14 UTC, we took spectra with ∼ 6-minute time resolution during infrared flaring events similar to those reported in Eikenbe...

We present the results from a multiwavelength campaign of GRS 1915+105 performed from 2000 April 16 to 25. This is one of the largest coordinated set of observations ever performed for this source, covering the wide energy band in radio (13.3–0.3 cm), near-infrared (J-H-K), X-rays and Gamma-rays (from 1 keV to 10 MeV). During the campaign GRS 1915+105 was predominantly in the “plateau” (or low/...

The BATSE earth-occultation database provides nine years of coverage for 75 γ-ray sources in the energy range 35− 1700 keV. For transient sources, this long time-base dataset makes it possible to study the repeated outbursts from individual objects. We have used the JPL data analysis package EBOP (Enhanced BATSE Occultation Package) to derive the light curves and the time evolution of the spect...
متن کاملObservations of Rapid Disk - Jet Interaction in GRS 1915 + 105
We present evidence that ∼ 30 minute episodes of jet formation in GRS 1915+105 may sometimes be a superposition of smaller, faster phenomena. Based on observations in 2002 July using the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer and the Palomar 5 meter telescope, we show that GRS 1915+105 sometimes produces ∼ 30 minute infrared flares that can entirely be explained as a combination of small (∼ 150 second) fl...
